Best street food spots?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip. Heard the food scene is amazing, but my Cantonese is...well, nonexistent. Any recommendations for places with easily understandable menus or a… more

Quarry Bay's got some great stuff! Check out the street food stalls around the Quarry Bay MTR station – tons of options with pictures, making ordering a breeze, even with zero Cantonese. You'll find lots of spicy options; look for anything with "mala" (麻辣) – that'll give you a good kick. Don't be afraid to point and gesture if you're unsure. For navigating, Google Maps is your friend, but honestly, just walking around is part of the charm. The area's pretty compact and easy to explore. If you get truly lost, just hop on the MTR – it's super efficient. Enjoy your trip! You'll probably find yourself wanting to return before your trip is even over.

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

Yeah, Sai Kung's a maze! I felt the same way – gorgeous, but disorienting. Forget those touristy maps; they're practically useless. Try searching for local hiking groups on Facebook; those guys are your best bet. They often share super detailed maps and GPS tracks, plus insider tips on getting to those hidden coves. Also, check out some of the Hong Kong hiking blogs – some of them are run by people who live there and know the area intimately. You'll find way better info than anything official. Good luck, and watch out for those monitor lizards! They're cool but kinda scary up close...

Wow, thanks! Monitor lizards?! Okay, that adds a whole new level of adventure. Facebook groups are a smart idea – I never thought of that. I'll definitely look into the hiking blogs too. Sai Kung sounds even more exciting now, in a slightly terrifying way. Appreciate the heads-up!
