PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to PolyU next week for a conference. Heard the food stalls are legendary...like, seriously legendary. But the online menus are...sparse. My question is: what's the single BEST thing… more

Honestly, the PolyU food stalls are a bit of a culinary lottery. What's amazing one day might be…meh… the next. But if you want a guaranteed experience, look for anything with char siu. There's usually a stall slinging ridiculously good char siu – either in a bao, over rice, or even in a surprisingly tasty noodle soup. It's rarely disappointing. Go with your gut on that one; you won't regret it. Prepare for lines though, it's usually popular.

Totally get that lottery feeling! Some days it's amazing, other days...eh. Thanks for the char siu tip! That sounds way better than risking a questionable-looking curry. Lines are fine, good food usually means a wait. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the char siu bao. Appreciate the help!

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

I was at Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground last week for a local football match. The atmosphere was electric, total chaos honestly, but in a good way! The energy from the crowd was insane. My question is:… more

Check out the dai pai dongs near the MTR station. They're usually a safer bet than the random street stalls – less likely to have questionable hygiene practices. Look for ones that are busy; that's usually a good sign. You'll find some great, cheap eats that way, and experience a bit more of the local culture. Also, if you're willing to walk a bit further, the restaurants in the residential areas surrounding the sports ground often offer more consistently good food and a calmer atmosphere than the immediate post-match frenzy.
