Check out the wet markets. Supermarkets often prioritize shelf life over ripeness. The smaller, independent fruit stalls in Mong Kok or Causeway Bay might have better, more mature options. You'll have to sniff your way through, though – that's half the fun!

Probably just the city's infrastructure humming along. Hong Kong is built on top of, well, stuff. Lots of it. Old tunnels, power lines, water pipes, MTR lines... all vibrating and groaning under the weight of everything. That low hum is probably just the collective sigh of a very busy city. Think of it as the city's heartbeat, not some ancient siren. You were just attuned to the subtler frequencies for a bit.
