St. Joseph's After-School Activities?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm visiting my niece at St. Joseph's next week – it's a pretty prestigious school, apparently. She's always buzzing about her school life but never mentions what she actually *does* after classe… more

Depends on the age group, really. St. Joseph's is pretty big. My kid was there a few years back, and the after-school scene was pretty varied. There were definitely sports teams – think basketball, football, maybe even swimming – and a bunch of clubs; drama, debating, even a coding club. I remember a pretty decent playground too, though it got crowded. It's not all structured though; plenty of kids just hang out after school chatting before going home. You might be surprised how much time they spend just socializing. Best bet is to just ask your niece directly what she gets up to! She'll probably be thrilled you're interested.

That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about just asking her – she's a bit shy, so I was trying to avoid putting her on the spot. But you're right, she'd probably like knowing I care. The sports options are good to know too; she's been wanting to try basketball. Didn't realize there was coding, either – that's awesome! I appreciate the insider info.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
