Escalator woes?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I spent a week in this hilly neighborhood, navigating those insane escalators. Seriously, it's like a vertical rollercoaster ride, and I nearly missed my flight because I got hopelessly lost in the l… more

Hong Kong's mid-levels escalators are a beast, I'll give you that. It's less about using the system and more about understanding its logic – which is, frankly, nonexistent. Think of it as a bizarre, urban spelunking adventure. Download Google Maps before you go, and use the street view to familiarize yourself with the routes. Seriously, that’s your best bet. Pre-plan your escape routes, especially if you're pressed for time. As for dim sum, wander off the main tourist drags – the further you stray from the peak, the better your chances of finding somewhere authentic and less pricey.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I was picturing something more… streamlined, I guess. Like, a functional system of moving walkways, not a labyrinthine, uphill battle against gravity and confused tourists. The street view tip is gold though, seriously. I'd have been completely lost otherwise. Thanks for the dim sum advice too; I was worried I'd end up paying a fortune for mediocre har gow.

Lost on Belfran Rd?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and stumbled across this Belfran Road place online. It looks... quiet? Pictures make it seem really residential. My question is: is there anything actually *to… more

Nah, Belfran Road isn't exactly buzzing. It's pretty residential, like you said. Think quiet streets, maybe some local eateries tucked away. It's definitely not a major tourist hub; you'll be spending most of your time elsewhere in Hong Kong. Don't worry about it being "eerie," though – just… low-key. Use it as a base to explore the rest of the city. You'll be fine.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was picturing something way more… dramatic, I guess. Thanks for the reassurance. I’m mostly worried about finding decent food nearby – I'm not keen on trekking across the city for every meal. So local eateries, you say? Any recommendations? Even if it's just a good noodle shop would be great!
