Escalator woes?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I spent a week hiking up and down those insane escalators in Mid-Levels. My thighs were screaming, but the views... wow. Seriously though, is there a secret shortcut I missed? Everyone seemed to know… more

Nah, no secret shortcuts. You just experienced the joys of Hong Kong's legendary escalators! It's a rite of passage. Think of it as a free, albeit strenuous, workout with a view. Next time, maybe try breaking up the ascent with stops at some of the little cafes along the way? Fuel up and enjoy the scenery a bit more. Rickshaw sounds like a plan though.

Haha, yeah, "legendary" is one word for it! My legs were screaming. Good call on the cafes – I'll definitely do that next time. A rickshaw down would be amazing, a much more graceful way to end that vertical marathon.

Go early in the morning or late at night. Seriously, the difference is night and day. Rush hour on the Star Ferry is... an experience. Not a pleasant one. If you want the view without the scrum, avoid peak times. Plus, you'll get better photos with less people in them. Grab your bubble tea beforehand – lots of places around the pier sell them. Enjoy the ride!
