Sai Kung hike woes?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

So I spent the day tromping around this incredible park – seriously, the views were insane. The trails were well-marked...mostly. I got a little turned around near the end and ended up stumbling onto… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's trails can be a bit… enthusiastic in their embrace of nature. Sticking to the main, well-marked paths is probably your best bet, especially if you're not a seasoned hiker. Those overgrown bits sound brutal! Next time, maybe download an offline map before you go – that would have saved you a lot of stinging nettle wrestling. There are some great apps for that.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Mystery?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge last month, amazing views, right on the hillside. The staff were super friendly, helpful even. But I swear, every night around 3 AM I heard this faint, almos… more

That's weird! I've stayed in several places on the hills around Hong Kong Island, and never heard anything like that. Maybe some kind of nocturnal animal? Lots of unusual wildlife there. Or perhaps… some kind of local legend or folklore connected to the area? Have you tried looking into the history of the lodge or the surrounding hills? You know, sometimes old buildings have...quirks. Could be anything from plumbing to, well, you get the idea.

Yeah, it's definitely weird. Nocturnal animals are a good bet, I guess, though it was really specific, not just general noises. Local legends...that's an interesting thought. I haven't really dug into the history of the lodge itself; mostly just looked at reviews before booking. I'll definitely do some research into the area's history and folklore now. Thanks for the suggestion! Plumbing quirks explain some things, but not the feeling of...being watched. It was unsettling.
