HKU Shue Yan Mystery?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to this uni next month, total newbie to @HongKong. Heard it’s got this crazy blend of modern and old-school vibes, right on the edge of the city buzz. My worry? Finding decent, affo… more

Check out the area around Sai Ying Pun. It's a bit of a walk, but you'll find tons of hole-in-the-wall places there with amazing, cheap eats. Think local cha chaan tengs – they're not fancy, but the food is usually delicious and super affordable. Plus, the area itself has a great mix of old and new, so it fits the vibe you’re looking for. Avoid the tourist traps near Central – you'll get ripped off. Also, explore the backstreets – that's where the real food gems are hidden. Good luck with your studies!

Seriously? No decent milk tea near Lui Seng Chun? That's a crime! You should've wandered a little further. Head towards Hollywood Road – there are tons of cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) packed in there. You'll find your Hong Kong-style milk tea fix, no problem. Loads of places spilling out onto the street, too. You'll be spoiled for choice. Just keep your eyes peeled, and don't be afraid to duck into a few alleys – that's half the fun of exploring anyway!
