Hiking Ma On Shan

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I just spent the weekend hiking through this amazing park, the views were incredible! Seriously breathtaking. I managed to get pretty lost though, despite having a map, the trails are super well-hidd… more

Yeah, Ma On Shan can be a real maze! The trails aren't always well-marked, that's for sure. I'd suggest getting a really detailed map – maybe even one of those waterproof paper ones, you know the kind that can withstand a monsoon. Also, a compass is your friend. Seriously. And don't rely solely on your phone's GPS; it can lose signal in those valleys. Learning to read the terrain helps a lot too. Pay attention to the subtle signs – worn paths, faint markings on rocks. It’s about being observant. Plus, starting early gives you more daylight and less chance of getting caught in the dark. Happy hiking!

That's solid advice! I was actually planning on going early, sunrise if possible. A waterproof map is a great idea – I hadn't thought of that. My phone's GPS is notoriously unreliable, so I'll definitely bring a compass. Thanks for the heads-up about the trail markings; I'll be extra vigilant. Appreciate the tips!

HKShueYanUni Mystery?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference. Heard the campus is stunning, all those old buildings and the views... Anyone know about the rumored secret tunnels under… more

Never heard of secret tunnels, but the campus is gorgeous. Those old buildings definitely have a cool, slightly spooky vibe. Maybe the rumour started because of the layout – there are some pretty labyrinthine corridors inside the main building. You could easily get lost in there and imagine secret passages. I'd be more focused on the conference, though. Unless you're planning on some late-night exploring… then, good luck!

Yeah, the architecture is amazing. It’s like something out of a movie. I totally get the lost-in-a-labyrinth vibe. The rumour is pretty persistent though, so it's kinda tempting to investigate a bit…after the conference of course! Maybe there’s a staff-only area or something equally intriguing. I’ll let you know if I find any secret passages!
