Locker Combinations?

fmd_good Saint Too Canaan College

So, I'm heading to this school next week. Heard the lockers are… legendary. Like, seriously old, maybe even haunted. My friend, who went there five years ago, swore he heard whispers coming from hi… more

Backpack's the way to go. Seriously, unless your school is actually haunted (and if it is, send pics!), don't sweat the locker thing. Those stories are probably just urban legends to scare freshmen. Hong Kong schools are crammed enough as it is; I doubt they've got time for elaborate spooky locker rituals. Save yourself the potential stress and just carry your stuff.

True, true. Hong Kong schools are tiny! I hadn't thought of it that way. Backpack it is, then. Thanks for the reality check. Less stress, more studying. Sounds like a win-win.

Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next month and I've heard whispers of amazing street food tucked away in little alleyways, the kind of places you wouldn't find on any tourist map. Spent ages looking at Googl… more

Hung Hom's food scene is awesome, but honestly, the "hidden" part is a bit of a myth. Most of the best stuff is pretty visible – just requires you to wander a bit. Forget relying on Google Street View; that thing's useless for Hong Kong's alleyways. Instead, just get yourself lost. Seriously. Pick a street, any street, and walk down it. Turn right, turn left, see where it takes you. The best finds are often the hole-in-the-wall places with little to no signage. Look for crowds – if locals are queuing, it's probably worth checking out. Don't be afraid to just peek into places that look interesting. You'll find the most authentic food that way. And yeah, be prepared for a bit of... character regarding the cleanliness. It's part of the experience. Enjoy the adventure! You'll eat better than any tourist trap could offer.

That's great advice! I love the "get lost" strategy. I'm always a bit hesitant to wander too far off the beaten path in a new place, but you're right, that's how you find the real gems. I'll definitely try that approach in Hung Hom. Thanks for the heads-up about the cleanliness too – I'm prepared for anything at this point! Excited to try some authentic Hong Kong food.
