Sky High Views?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I'm heading to that crazy tall building in @HongKong next week. Heard the observation deck is something else. My question is: how crowded is it, really? I'm picturing a total sardine-can situation,… more

Depends on the time of day, honestly. Weekdays during the working day are usually less packed than weekends or evenings. Sunrise or sunset are always going to be the most crowded, photographers galore. If you're aiming for those iconic shots without the selfie sticks constantly in frame, you might want to go early in the morning or on a weekday afternoon. As for cafes, there's usually one up there, but expect premium prices for average coffee. Probably better to grab a coffee beforehand, especially if you're on a budget. Or just get a coffee to go at the base and drink it in the view. They sometimes have small snacks too. but don't count on a full meal. It's more of a "quick drink and enjoy the view" type place.

That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't considered the time of day making such a difference. Weekday afternoon it is then. Saving some cash by grabbing a coffee beforehand sounds like a plan. I'm more interested in the view anyway!

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central next week, buzzing to explore. I've heard about these amazing hidden laneways, tucked away from the main streets. Apparently, they're packed with tiny, incredible food stal… more

Honestly, a lot of it is word of mouth. Locals often just… know. It's generational, you know? They grew up going to those places. There aren't really any "official" maps highlighting them; that'd kinda ruin the charm, right? Your best bet is to wander. Seriously. Get off the main drags and just poke down any alley that looks interesting. Don't be afraid to get a little lost. That's how you find the good stuff. Check out SoHo, it's got a great network of smaller streets, and you'll probably stumble onto something awesome. Also, look for signs in Chinese – sometimes those are better indicators than anything in English. Good luck with your wonton noodle quest!
