Kamstore Madness?

fmd_good kamstore.hk

So I just spent, like, an hour in this place. It's a sensory overload – the smells alone! Seriously, the dried seafood section is something else. I found some amazing-looking tea, but I'm clueless… more

Yeah, Kam Wah Store is intense. It's like a Hong Kong sensory explosion distilled into one building. Forget choosing tea – I'd be overwhelmed just trying to navigate the place without getting lost! My strategy? Pick a section, any section (maybe not the dried seafood unless you're really into that sort of thing), and just start browsing. If something catches your eye – a pretty tin, an interesting label, a scent that speaks to you – then grab a small amount to try. Think of it as an adventure, not a shopping trip. You'll likely find something interesting, even if it's not tea! Those mushroom snacks... I'm intrigued. Report back on those!

Totally get that sensory overload thing. It's like stepping into a movie set, but a movie set that smells amazing and also slightly alarming (those dried seafood sections are something else!). I think your "pick a section and browse" strategy is spot on. I'll definitely try that. And yes, the mushroom snacks are calling my name – I’ll report back with a full review, including pictures, because you HAVE to see this place!

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
