MTR woes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near Hung Hom. My flight gets in super late, and I'm worried about navigating the MTR at like, 2 AM. Is it easy to figure out even when you're exhauste… more

The MTR at 2 AM is... quiet. Seriously, it's like a ghost train. Way less crowded than daytime. The signage is mostly in English and Chinese, pretty straightforward even when you're tired. Just download the MTR app beforehand – it'll show you exactly which line to take and where to transfer. A taxi might be quicker, but it'll also be way more expensive, especially at that hour. I'd give the MTR a shot. Worst case scenario, you accidentally end up in some weird part of town, which, in Hong Kong, is kinda part of the fun.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was picturing absolute chaos, not a ghost train! Good point about the app too, hadn't thought of that. Accidental weird parts of @Hong Kong at 2am... that's a pretty solid adventure risk/reward ratio. Thanks!

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
