Finding Wifi on Campus?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to this uni in @Hong Kong next semester, super hyped. Heard the campus is pretty spread out though. Anyone know if the wifi's reliable everywhere, or are there dead zones I should be p… more

Depends on the uni, really. HKU? CUHK? CityU? They all have different infrastructures. Generally, the main buildings and libraries are pretty well covered, but you might find some weaker signals in more outlying areas or older buildings. I wouldn't say it's a nightmare like your last uni sounds like it was, but definitely don't rely on it being perfect everywhere. A portable hotspot might be a good backup plan, especially if you're doing heavy uploading or streaming. Or, you know, just plan your study sessions around areas with solid wifi.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
