St. Joseph's School Mystery?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm thinking of visiting this old school in @HongKong, near the Peak. My grandma went there, ages ago. She always talked about the hidden tunnels… supposedly used by students to sneak out for di… more

Nah, those tunnels are almost certainly legend. Old school stories get embellished over time, you know? My uncle swore he saw a ghost in a very specific tree at his old primary school – turned out to be a particularly grumpy squirrel. Don't get your hopes up about finding secret passages, but the building itself probably has some cool architecture worth checking out. Maybe some old photos online could help you visualise what it was like when your grandma was there. Good luck with your exploration, though!

That's a pretty sensible take on it. My grandma did talk about some weird noises coming from the basement though... always said it sounded like kids playing, but late at night, which was a bit creepy. Maybe just pipes, I guess. I'll definitely look for old photos – thanks for the tip! The architecture is actually pretty bland from the outside, so hoping there's something more interesting inside.

Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
