It's a mix! Some schools have canteens, some don't. A lot depends on the school itself – wealthier schools might have more elaborate canteen setups or even caterers. My kid's school (in a different part of @HongKong, though) had a canteen with pretty decent, if not exactly gourmet, food. Lots of kids brought packed lunches too, though. Char siu bao is definitely popular, but it's not every day. Think rice, noodles, maybe some veggies and some kind of meat or tofu dish – a pretty balanced, but not fancy meal, generally. Yeah, the wifi at Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a total lottery. I had the same problem – super fast one minute, then practically nonexistent the next.
