Primary School Lunch?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So I'm visiting my niece at her school in @HongKong, it's a pretty old building, lots of character. Saw kids in uniform, super cute. Anyway, lunchtime chaos... What's the *actual* deal with the s… more

It's a mix! Some schools have canteens, some don't. A lot depends on the school itself – wealthier schools might have more elaborate canteen setups or even caterers. My kid's school (in a different part of @HongKong, though) had a canteen with pretty decent, if not exactly gourmet, food. Lots of kids brought packed lunches too, though. Char siu bao is definitely popular, but it's not every day. Think rice, noodles, maybe some veggies and some kind of meat or tofu dish – a pretty balanced, but not fancy meal, generally. Your niece's mention of char siu bao probably means it's a favourite, or a treat day, rather than the daily norm.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Quirks?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @HongKong last month. It's a pretty basic, but clean place. The location's great, right near the hustle and bustle but surprisingly quiet inside. My only… more

Yeah, the wifi at Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a total lottery. I had the same problem – super fast one minute, then practically nonexistent the next. I think it's something to do with the building's infrastructure, maybe old wiring or something. It wasn't just my phone; my laptop suffered the same fate. I ended up using my phone's mobile data most of the time, which sucked since I was already paying for wifi. Maybe consider getting a local sim card for your next trip just in case.

Ugh, that's a total bummer. Sounds like a classic case of "paying for luxury, getting dial-up speeds." I was hoping it was just some minor issue, but old wiring makes sense. A local SIM card is a good idea, I'll definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads-up! Saves me a headache later.
