Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail section through Sai Kung East Country Park last month. Absolutely stunning views, but I got ridiculously lost trying to find a less-used trail someone mentioned online. I… more

Yeah, Sai Kung can be a beast! Those "less-used trails" often aren't marked well at all...or at all. Forget about detailed maps showing everything – you'll likely be disappointed. The official hiking maps are decent for the main trails, but anything off-piste is a crapshoot. Honestly, your best bet is talking to some locals at a hiking shop in Sai Kung town itself. They’ll probably know the whisper network of trails and can maybe point you towards something less... overgrown. Or maybe even a guide for a day trip. That's probably safer than relying on internet whispers. Good luck, and maybe pack some stronger insect repellent next time.

Totally get that. Sounds like proper bushwhacking territory! I figured the maps would be…optimistic at best. A local shop is a great idea; hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip – will definitely try that before my next adventure. And yeah, the mosquitos were brutal last time… might even consider full body armor next time. 😂

Shun Lee Tsuen Playground Conundrum?

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

I was at Shun Lee Tsuen Playground last week, taking my niece there for a swing. It's cute, right? But man, the swings are... old. Seriously, they creaked like a haunted house. My niece loved them,… more

Lol, those old swings in Hong Kong playgrounds are a thing. They're like, a rite of passage. I swear, they’ve been there since the British handed things over. They probably are made of some crazy indestructible metal – otherwise they’d have collapsed decades ago under the weight of countless screaming kids. Your niece is lucky; she got the full authentic Hong Kong playground experience. Just keep an eye on the little one, and maybe pack some extra bandages.

Totally! My niece is obsessed with those swings now. She keeps saying "again, again!" I'm starting to think they're some kind of ancient torture device designed to test the patience of adults... but hey, at least she's getting her exercise. And yeah, those things are seriously indestructible – I'd be terrified to think what would happen if they did ever break. Thanks for the heads-up on the bandages! I should probably carry a first-aid kit with me next time, haha.
