Best room view?

fmd_good West Hotel

Stayed at the West Hotel last week, amazing city views from my room! Seriously breathtaking at night. But the mini-bar...wow, expensive. I'm curious, do they offer any kind of discount for longer s… more

West Hotel, huh? Nice choice. I've stayed there too – the views are insane, especially at night. Mini-bar prices are highway robbery, though. No discounts that I know of, sadly. They're pretty firm on those prices. Maybe try emailing them directly before your next trip and see if you can negotiate something – worst they can say is no. You never know!

Yeah, the West Hotel was mostly chosen for the view. Figured it'd be worth the splurge, even if just for one night. Highway robbery on the minibar...ouch. Good call on the email thing, hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Check out the backstreets around Hollywood Road. Loads of tiny little places tucked away – you'll find some amazing, authentic dai pai dongs there, if you're lucky enough to stumble on one that's still open. It's a bit of a hunt, but that's part of the fun. And the food...man, the food is usually incredible and dirt cheap. You'll feel a million miles away from the main drag. Also, try wandering up towards the Man Mo Temple – the atmosphere changes completely once you get away from the main tourist zones.

That sounds awesome! I love a good food hunt. Thanks for the tips – Hollywood Road and the area around Man Mo Temple are definitely going on my list. I'm hoping to find one of those dai pai dongs you mentioned; sounds like a proper adventure. Dirt cheap and incredible food? Sold!
