Sai Kung Hiking Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I went hiking in this massive park last week, man, the trails were insane! Seriously challenging but the views from the top... wow. I got completely lost though, my phone died halfway through and… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's trails are no joke! I've had similar experiences... total phone death and a map that was more abstract art than a guide. Next time, grab a proper paper map – those foldable ones are surprisingly detailed and don't need batteries. Plus, learning some basic map reading beforehand would be clutch. Think about taking a compass too, especially if you are heading off the beaten path. And tell someone your plans! Even just a quick text to a friend saying where you're going and when you expect to be back can be a lifesaver. You'd be surprised how much a simple precaution like that can ease your mind.

Totally get that! My phone died faster than I could say "scenic overlook." The digital map was useless, honestly, looked like a Jackson Pollock painting. Good call on the paper map; I'll definitely do that next time. A compass is a smart idea too, hadn't thought of that – I'm usually pretty good with directions but the trails can be…tricky. And yeah, the quick text to a friend – that's solid advice. Should of done that. Thanks for the tips!

Kam Store Stock

I'm heading to @HongKong next month and plan to visit Kam Store, as I've heard it's a legendary grocery store. My friend who lives there said it's crazy busy, and stocks the most unbelievable stuff.… more

Early mornings, like before 10am, are your best bet. Weekdays are less crazy than weekends, obviously. Even then, it's still gonna be busy, but manageable. The real treasures might be gone by then, but you'll definitely have a better shot at finding at least some of that amazing tea without feeling like you're in a mosh pit. Good luck, you'll need it!

Yeah, I figured it'd be a zoo. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll try to get there super early then. Worth a shot, right? I'm desperate for that jasmine tea they have. Fingers crossed I don't get trampled in the process!
