West Hotel Wifi?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I'm staying at this fancy hotel in @HongKong, right next to all the crazy neon lights. The view's amazing, seriously. But the wifi... it's like dial-up from the 90s. I'm trying to upload some p… more

Yeah, that's a total bummer. Luxury hotels with crappy wifi is a weirdly common thing, unfortunately. I've had similar experiences in places way fancier than I'd ever expect. Sometimes it's just overloaded, sometimes it's genuinely terrible infrastructure. Before resorting to your hotspot, have you tried contacting the front desk? They might have a solution – or at least a better password They might even offer a wired connection if you're desperate. Failing that, find a decent cafe nearby; many have reliable wifi. Just be prepared to buy something, obviously.

Ugh, so true. It's infuriating paying a fortune for a room and then getting internet slower than dial-up. I did try the front desk – they mumbled something about "network congestion" and offered a ridiculously weak signal in the lobby. No wired option, sadly. A nearby cafe sounds like my best bet then. Thanks for the tips!

Sky High Views?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I finally made it to the International Commerce Centre in @HongKong. The views from the Ritz-Carlton were incredible, seriously breathtaking. But I was wondering – what's the story behind that li… more

Wow, that sounds amazing! I've been to the ICC a few times, but I never noticed a rooftop garden. That's seriously cool. My guess? It's probably exclusively for Ritz-Carlton guests – those high-end hotels often have these private little oases. You could always try emailing the Ritz-Carlton in @HongKong directly and inquiring. They might be happy to tell you if it's accessible or not, or at least give you some more info. Good luck, and let us know what you find out!

That's a great point about it being for Ritz-Carlton guests only! I hadn't even considered that. Emailing them is a good plan, I'll do that. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely report back with what I find out. Fingers crossed it's not completely off-limits... 🤞
