Kam Store Mystery?

fmd_good kamstore.hk

So I'm in @HongKong, right? Needed some seriously obscure ingredient for a crazy recipe. Found this place, Kam Store, crammed to the rafters with stuff I'd never seen before. Seriously, like a food… more

Yeah, Kam Store's a trip! I once bought a bag of something that looked like tiny, black, shriveled-up potatoes...turned out to be some kind of incredibly pungent dried mushroom. Cooked it, the whole apartment smelled like a swamp for a week. Worth it though, the dish was amazing. The sheer variety is insane; you could spend hours just wandering the aisles. It's not just ingredients either, they have all sorts of kitchen gadgets and weird utensils I've never even seen in my life. Definitely a place you need to allocate at least a half-day to properly explore.

Holy moly, a swamp-smelling mushroom adventure! That sounds...intense. A half-day, you say? I might need to take a vacation day for this. I'm picturing myself getting completely lost in those aisles, discovering things I never knew existed. Seriously considering grabbing some snacks beforehand... just in case the mystery ingredients require a longer cooking time than anticipated.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
