Lost my way

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I was supposed to meet my cousin near this old school building – St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary, it's near the MTR station, right? Anyway, I got completely turned around in those narrow stre… more

Yeah, that area around St. Joseph's can be a real pain. Those streets are ridiculously twisty. Honestly, there aren't any real shortcuts; it's just a dense neighborhood. Your best bet is to stick to the main roads – even if it adds a little time, it's far less stressful than getting lost again. Google Maps' walking directions are usually pretty decent there though, so maybe that's your best bet next time. I'd rather spend an extra five minutes walking a known path than an hour wandering around like a headless chicken.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Conundrum?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

Stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @Hongkong last month. Amazing views, seriously. But the thing is, the elevator was… temperamental. One minute it was whizzing up, the next, stuck between floor… more

Oh man, the Caritas Bianchi Lodge elevator! I heard stories. Apparently, it's a bit of a… local legend. Not quite legendary in the "haunted hotel" sense, more like "legendary for its unreliability." My friend stayed there last year and had a similar experience— although hers involved a rather abrupt stop accompanied by a shower of sparks. They said maintenance is… "working on it." So yeah, you weren't alone in the whole "trapped between floors" ordeal. Should've packed a book. Or a really good podcast.

Seriously? Sparks?! Wow. I thought my experience was bad, but a shower of sparks sounds… intense. I guess "working on it" is hotel-speak for "we're aware of the significant fire hazard but haven't gotten around to it yet." A book would've been a good idea, or maybe a portable charger for my phone… which of course, died halfway through the ordeal. Next time I'm bringing a survival kit. A first aid kit might have been useful too, just in case of, you know, sparks.
