Yeah, creepy is the perfect word! It wasn't a carving, actually, more like… strange symbols etched into one of the benches. Really deep cuts, almost like someone used a chisel. I'll definitely try the local history forums – hadn't thought of that. The park management is probably a dead end, they're usually pretty clueless about anything beyond broken swings, haha. I did snap a pic, it's pretty blurry though. Maybe I should try enhancing it... Thanks for the tips!
