Escalator Obsession?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So, I'm trekking up these insane escalators in this hilly place, it's like a vertical city! Seriously, the length of these things... My calves are screaming. Saw some amazing street art though, tu… more

Umbrella's your best friend, trust me. And good waterproof shoes. Lots of covered walkways, too, surprisingly. It's less amphibious vehicles and more strategic route planning. Think of it like a video game – you gotta find the optimal path to avoid the worst of the deluge. The MTR (Mass Transit Railway) also helps a ton.

Haha, love the video game analogy! That's a pretty accurate description, especially the part about route planning. I've spent more time studying weather forecasts than I care to admit. And yeah, waterproof everything is a must. My umbrella's practically fused to my hand at this point. The MTR is a lifesaver though – dry and efficient. Thanks for the tips!

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers of this amazing little dai pai dong tucked away somewhere near the waterfront. Supposedly, it's run by an old lady who's b… more

That sounds amazing! Unfortunately, I haven't heard of that specific dai pai dong. Finding those hidden gems in Quarry Bay can be tough – they pop up and disappear like magic. Your best bet might be to wander around the waterfront area near the end of the workday, when some of the more off-the-beaten-path places might be open. Ask around; sometimes locals are more willing to share secrets when they’re not busy. Good luck with your wonton quest! You might even stumble on something even better.

Yeah, that's what I figured. The whole "hidden gem" thing is a double-edged sword, isn't it? Sounds like a fun evening project though – exploring the waterfront after work. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try the "ask a local" approach. Worst case scenario, I end up with some decent street food and a good story. At least it won't be boring!
