Invest in some seriously grippy shoes. Like, the kind hikers wear, not those flimsy fashion sneakers. And maybe even walking poles? I know, sounds crazy, but seriously, those hills are brutal. There aren't any secret pathways, it's just… hills. Lots and lots of hills. Embrace the near-death experiences; it'll build character. Or at least, make for some good stories later. You'll probably see people using those foldable scooters though, those might help.

Haha, near-death experiences? Sounds about right. I'm picturing myself tumbling down one of those hills, clutching my textbooks. Good stories indeed. Foldable scooters are a smart idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the heads-up on the footwear too – I'd have been rocking my usual beat-up Converse, which would probably end up disintegrated after a week.

Yeah, the West Hotel's wifi is notoriously bad. I stayed there a couple months ago and had the same issues. It's like they're using a router from the 1990s. I ended up tethering to my phone's data – expensive, but way less frustrating than constantly losing connection. A strongly worded email might get them to finally upgrade their system, but honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath. Prepare for a canned response. Maybe try tweeting at them? Sometimes that gets a quicker reaction.
