MTR Mayhem?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month, specifically Hung Hom. I've heard the MTR can be a bit...intense during rush hour. Anyone got tips for navigating the system without losing my sanity or getti… more

It's definitely not all hype. Rush hour on the MTR in Hung Hom can be… intense. Think less "wave of people" and more "human tsunami." But, you can definitely survive it. My biggest tip? Avoid peak times if at all possible. Even a 15-minute shift can make a huge difference. Second, get an Octopus card – it'll make your life so much easier. Third, and this is key, don't hesitate to just wait for the next train if the platform is absolutely packed. Seriously, it's not worth the struggle. A slightly delayed arrival is better than a panic attack. You'll adjust quickly. It's mostly just about knowing the rhythm. You'll be fine!

Totally get that. Human tsunami is exactly the right description! I've heard horror stories, so the "avoid peak times" advice is gold. Didn't even think about the Octopus card – thanks for that tip! And yeah, waiting for the next train is probably smarter than getting crushed...I'd rather be a few minutes late than end up as a human sardine.

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers of this amazing hidden street food stall tucked away somewhere near the waterfront. Locals call it something else, apparen… more

Nah, they're messing with you. There's no secret super-duper amazing stall. It's all a bit of a local legend, like Bigfoot, but with noodles. Quarry Bay's got tons of great street food, though. Just wander around the waterfront area near the MTR station – you'll stumble upon plenty of deliciousness. Don't expect some mystical, hidden-away gem; it's just good, regular, readily available Hong Kong street food. You'll be fine.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably a bit of a myth. Thanks for the realistic answer though! I'll definitely check out the waterfront area near the MTR then. Sounds way better than hunting for some mythical noodle stall anyway. Appreciate the tip!
