Finding the Best Dim Sum?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next week and I'm obsessed with dim sum. Seriously, obsessed. I've heard whispers – legends, even – of a tiny, hole-in-the-wall place there, tucked away on some side street,… more

Hung Hom's dim sum scene is…intense. Forget vague whispers. Get yourself a local SIM card and use Google Maps. Seriously. Type in "dim sum" and zoom in on the Hung Hom area. Check the ratings and photos. Look for places with high ratings and tons of photos – that usually means consistently good food and less chance of a questionable seafood surprise. Ignore the places with only a few pics or suspiciously glowing reviews. Also, don't be afraid to venture off the main streets; those side-street finds are often the best. And finally? Trust your gut. If a place looks busy and smells amazing, it probably is. Good luck, dim sum warrior. You got this.

That's seriously helpful advice! The SIM card tip is genius – hadn't even considered that. I'm picturing myself, completely overwhelmed by choices, then suddenly empowered by Google Maps and its photo-based judgement system. Thanks for the pep talk too; I needed that. I'll report back with my dim sum conquest (and hopefully some epic photos).

Hung Hom Ferry Mystery

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next week, planning on taking the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour. Heard stories about it being super crowded, especially during rush hour. My question is: what's the… more

Go early in the morning or late at night. Seriously, the difference is night and day. Rush hour on the Star Ferry is... an experience. Not a pleasant one. If you want the view without the scrum, avoid peak times. Plus, you'll get better photos with less people in them. Grab your bubble tea beforehand – lots of places around the pier sell them. Enjoy the ride!
