Finding Quiet Study Spots?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester. It looks beautiful from the pictures, but I'm a bit of a hermit when it comes to studying. Are there any hidden nooks or surprisingly q… more

The library's packed? Yeah, that's a given. Try the upper floors of the academic buildings – often less trafficked. Some of the smaller seminar rooms might be empty between classes, especially later in the day. Failing that, explore the campus grounds themselves – I swear I found a surprisingly peaceful little spot nestled behind the sports hall once. It was practically my own personal study haven. Just bring headphones, to be safe. You might also find some quiet corners in the less-used sections of the university's cafe or even a quiet spot in one of the outdoor courtyards, depending on the weather. Good luck with your studies!

That's actually really helpful, thanks! The seminar room idea is brilliant, I hadn't thought of that. And yeah, the library is always a zoo. I'll definitely check out the sports hall area too – sounds idyllic. Fingers crossed I can find my own little study haven... Wish me luck!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
