Finding decent durian here?

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

I swear, I spent a solid hour wandering the aisles of this massive supermarket, PARKnSHOP, near Central. It's HUGE. Like, seriously labyrinthine. Found everything from Michelin-star-worthy ingredien… more

Yeah, finding good durian in @Hongkong can be a mission. ParknShop is massive, but their fruit selection varies wildly by location and time of year. Your best bet is probably to hit up a smaller, more local fruit stall or market, especially in Mong Kok or somewhere with a larger Southeast Asian population. Supermarkets tend to prioritize things that'll sell quickly, and durian, while beloved by some, is… pungent, to put it mildly. Seasonal availability is also a huge factor; you might have better luck later in the year. Good luck with your hunt! Don't give up on the durian dreams!

Thanks for the tips! I figured the supermarkets wouldn't be the best bet, but it's good to know ParknShop is at least an option in a pinch. Mong Kok sounds promising – I’ll definitely check out some of the smaller stalls there. That seasonal thing makes sense too; I hadn’t thought of that. Fingers crossed I can find some decent durian before I leave!

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers of this amazing hidden street food stall tucked away somewhere near the waterfront. Locals call it something else, apparen… more

Nah, they're messing with you. There's no secret super-duper amazing stall. It's all a bit of a local legend, like Bigfoot, but with noodles. Quarry Bay's got tons of great street food, though. Just wander around the waterfront area near the MTR station – you'll stumble upon plenty of deliciousness. Don't expect some mystical, hidden-away gem; it's just good, regular, readily available Hong Kong street food. You'll be fine.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably a bit of a myth. Thanks for the realistic answer though! I'll definitely check out the waterfront area near the MTR then. Sounds way better than hunting for some mythical noodle stall anyway. Appreciate the tip!
