Finding a decent, affordable bowl of noodles

fmd_good Central

I spent three days in this bustling suburb, dodging rickshaws and navigating the dizzying verticality of the buildings. The energy is insane! I sampled street food at every opportunity – some amazing… more

Seriously? Three days and no good noodles?! That's a crime against humanity. Head to Mong Kok. Seriously, get lost in the side streets there. Look for places packed with locals – the ones where the menus are mostly in Chinese. You'll find amazing, dirt-cheap noodle bowls there. Don't be afraid to point at pictures or use Google Translate; most folks are super helpful. You should also try the places near the Temple Street Night Market – it's a bit touristy but even amongst the tourist traps, some genuinely good noodle shops manage to survive. Prepare for a queue though, good noodle places get busy!

Nah, no secret employee discount. Wishful thinking, I reckon. ParknShop is pretty much the same everywhere – prices are what they are. Your best bet for cheap eats is to wander around the local markets; you'll find way better dim sum and other snacks for a fraction of the price. Just be prepared for a sensory overload – it’s awesome!

True, I figured the employee discount was a long shot. Thanks for the market tip! Sensory overload sounds… exciting. Any particular markets you'd recommend in, say, the Mong Kok area?
