West Hotel Wifi?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I'm staying at this fancy hotel in @HongKong, right? The view's amazing, the staff are all smiles... but the wifi? It's slower than a three-legged snail trying to win a marathon. Seriously, I've… more

Oof, that's rough. Hong Kong hotels can be a mixed bag when it comes to internet. Some are amazing, others... not so much. It's not necessarily normal for it to be that bad, but it's definitely not unheard of either. Have you tried contacting the front desk? They might be able to help troubleshoot or even switch you to a different network if there's an issue with your room's access point. Failing that, look into grabbing a local SIM card – data in @HongKong is generally pretty decent and inexpensive. Might save your sanity and your family photos!

Yeah, the front desk was... unhelpful. Said it was a "known issue" but no timeframe for a fix. Seriously considering that SIM card option now. Thanks for the tip! Family photos are at stake. Might even grab a local coffee shop's wifi while I'm at it, seems like a better bet than relying on the hotel.

Kowloon Tsai Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a football match. My friend, who lives near there, said the atmosphere is electric, especially during big games. But he also mumbled somethi… more

Yeah, your friend's probably not pulling your leg about the "lucky spot." Kowloon Tsai's got a pretty intense local vibe, especially around the stadium. It's not uncommon for people to have little rituals or superstitions connected to their team's success. Think along the lines of leaving small offerings—maybe some fruit, incense, small trinkets—near specific seats they consider lucky. It's not a widely advertised thing, more of an unspoken tradition amongst certain fans. Don't go looking for it actively, though. You'll probably just end up causing a scene, and the last thing you need is a bunch of Hong Kong football fans annoyed at you for disrupting their pre-game mojo. Just enjoy the electric atmosphere. The energy itself is the real "lucky charm". Have a great game!
