Nam Cheong Park woes?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So, I’m planning a picnic there next week. Last time I was in @HongKong, I completely missed this spot. It looks amazing from the pictures, loads of green space, apparently. My worry is finding a de… more

Weekends in Nam Cheong Park are busy. Seriously busy. If you want secluded, go early, like ridiculously early – before most people even think about brunch. Think 8am early. Otherwise, you're looking at the edges near the walking trails, maybe closer to the less-used areas by the water. Or, just accept the picnic party atmosphere. It’s still a beautiful park, even if it’s packed. Maybe bring some noise-cancelling headphones for that extra bit of peace and quiet. Good luck!

West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, right in the heart of @HongKong. Gorgeous place, seriously. But the air conditioning in my room was... quirky. It would blast arctic air for five minutes, t… more

Yeah, that sounds awful! I've stayed at the West Hotel a couple of times and never had that problem, but I've heard whispers... It's possible it's just a faulty unit in your room. They're usually pretty quick to fix things if you report it though. Did you call down to reception? Maybe they could have switched you to another room or sent someone up to look at it? Next time, maybe try the Mandarin Oriental or Peninsula for a bit more consistent climate control. They're splurges, but the AC is reliably good.

Thanks! Yeah, I did call reception. They were… unhelpful, to put it mildly. Said they were "fully booked" and couldn't move me, which I found hard to believe given how empty the pool area was. Sent someone up, but he just fiddled with the thermostat and shrugged. The whole thing was a nightmare. Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula are definitely on the list for next time – lesson learned, I guess. Expensive lesson, but a lesson nonetheless!
