Sai Kung Hike Woes?

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Those trails are notoriously...unclear. I've had similar experiences. Forget relying solely on your phone; that's a recipe for disaster. Instead, grab a proper hiking map – the ones from the Hong Kong Tourist Association are usually pretty good, and they're detailed enough to actually help. Also, consider downloading offline maps onto your phone before you go, using something like Gaia GPS or Maps.me. They work even without a signal. And maybe carry a compass, just to be extra safe. That waterfall's a pain to find, but with a decent map and a bit of extra preparation, you’ll nail it next time.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
