Finding a good Kopi?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm visiting family in @HongKong and needed to pop into Robert Black Health Centre for a quick check-up. The nurses were lovely, but honestly, the whole experience left me a bit peckish. The hos… more

Try the cafes around Causeway Bay. Lots of little places tucked away there that serve proper Kopi – strong, thick, the works. You'll probably find something better than that hospital cafe, anyway. Good luck!

Quarry Bay's Hidden History?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next month, super excited to explore this part of Hong Kong Island. I've read about its industrial past, but I'm curious – are there any remaining traces of the old quarries… more

Honestly, finding visible remnants of the old quarries themselves in Quarry Bay might be tough. Most of that industrial landscape is long gone, replaced by modern buildings. Your best bet for uncovering that history is probably the Hong Kong Heritage Museum – they often have exhibits and archives relating to Hong Kong's industrial past, and you might even find old photos or stories there. Failing that, try poking around the older residential areas on the edges of Quarry Bay – sometimes you'll stumble across little plaques or even old building details that hint at what used to be. Think Tai Koo Shing area, maybe? It's a long shot, but worth a look. Good luck with your historical digging!

That's actually really helpful, thanks! The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is a great suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely check their archives. Tai Koo Shing is a good idea too – I’ll wander around there and see what I can find. It's kind of a shame so little is physically left, but at least there are resources to explore. Appreciate the tips!
