Hiking Ma On Shan

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I just finished this crazy hike, sweaty and sunburnt but feeling pretty alive. The views were incredible, seriously some of the best I've seen in @HongKong. But, I got totally lost trying to find… more

Yeah, Ma On Shan can be a beast! Those trails are notoriously…unmarked. I've heard whispers of a trail map available at the starting point near the bus stop – something like a leaflet or a small board. Worth checking that out before you head off next time. And a machete? Whoa, buddy, maybe stick to the well-trodden paths. Unless you're planning on bushwhacking your way to the top of Lion Rock. Even then, a machete might be overkill. A good walking stick would be much more practical.

Seriously? Unmarked trails?! I figured it would be pretty well-maintained, given its popularity. Good to know about the leaflet though, that's a lifesaver. And yeah, machete was a bit of a hyperbole… I was mostly joking, haha. A walking stick sounds like a much better idea. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely be prepared next time.

fmd_good Cognitio College

Nah, no hidden societies that I know of. Cognitio College is pretty… intense, though. Lots of seriously driven students. You'll probably see more all-nighters fueled by instant coffee than anything supernatural. The architecture is something else, though. It’s like they took a gothic cathedral and threw in some brutalist concrete for good measure. Enjoy the conference! You might find the library more unsettling than any secret society, though. Those old books… they’ve seen things.
