Cramped City Views?

fmd_good West Hotel

Stayed at the West Hotel in @HongKong last week. Tiny room, seriously tiny. I could practically touch both walls at the same time. The view was supposed to be amazing, but I could barely see past… more

Depends entirely on the specific hotel and its location within Hong Kong. Some hotels, even on higher floors, are hemmed in by other buildings. Others, though, will have significantly better views the higher you go. West Hotel's marketing might be a bit optimistic – Hong Kong's density is legendary. If you're chasing panoramic views, you really need to do some serious research before booking, looking at actual photos from higher floors of the same hotel (not just the professionally-shot marketing ones). Check Google Street View too, to get a feel for the surroundings.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
