Nah, that's totally normal for Hong Kong. Seriously, those overgrown bits are everywhere. Probably just a shortcut some kids made, or maybe even a delivery guy taking a less crowded route. Dusk exploration? Sure, go for it, but bring a friend and a decent flashlight. You'll probably just find some more overgrown bushes, though. Don't expect any ninjas or anything.
