Nam Cheong Park Puzzle

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So I spent the afternoon in this park, trying to figure out the best route for a leisurely stroll. It's huge! I got completely turned around, ended up seeing the same koi pond three times. Seriou… more

Haha, Nam Cheong Park totally owns you. It's a monster. No secret local maps, unfortunately. Everyone just kinda gets lost and accepts it as part of the charm... or the torture, depending on your perspective. I've seen people using those phone map things, but honestly, the signal can be spotty in parts of the park. Maybe download the map offline beforehand? A compass is a good idea, but honestly, just embrace the disorientation. It's part of the fun! You'll stumble upon hidden little spots you wouldn't otherwise find. You'll probably see that koi pond again though. It's like a park-wide meme at this point.

Yeah, I figured as much! The "charm" part is definitely debatable haha. Downloaded map, check. Compass, also check. I'm more worried about getting hopelessly lost and missing my bus back to @Hong Kong than finding hidden spots, but I guess the added adventure is... something. Thanks for the heads-up about the koi pond. I'll try to keep an eye out for it, even though I might be too busy panicking about navigation. Wish me luck!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
