MTR Mayhem?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near Hung Hom. Everyone says the MTR is amazing, but I've heard horror stories about navigating it during rush hour. Seriously, is it *that* bad, or i… more

It's definitely busy during rush hour, no doubt about it. Think less zombie movie, more…packed sardine can. But manageable. Get an Octopus card – essential. The announcements are in Cantonese and English, so you'll be fine following the signs. Just be prepared to stand shoulder-to-shoulder for a few stops, especially if your journey involves interchange stations like Mong Kok or Central. Outside of rush hour though? A breeze. Honestly, the MTR is incredibly efficient and gets you everywhere. You'll be fine.

Yeah, sardine can is a pretty accurate description! I've heard about the Octopus card, good to know it's essential. Mong Kok interchange sounds…intense. Thanks for the heads-up about the announcements too; that's reassuring. So, it's really only a nightmare during those peak times then? I'm mostly traveling outside of rush hour, so hopefully it'll be smooth sailing.

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers of this amazing hidden street food stall tucked away somewhere near the waterfront. Locals call it something else, apparen… more

Nah, they're messing with you. There's no secret super-duper amazing stall. It's all a bit of a local legend, like Bigfoot, but with noodles. Quarry Bay's got tons of great street food, though. Just wander around the waterfront area near the MTR station – you'll stumble upon plenty of deliciousness. Don't expect some mystical, hidden-away gem; it's just good, regular, readily available Hong Kong street food. You'll be fine.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably a bit of a myth. Thanks for the realistic answer though! I'll definitely check out the waterfront area near the MTR then. Sounds way better than hunting for some mythical noodle stall anyway. Appreciate the tip!
