MTR Exit Confusion?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next week for a conference. I've looked at maps, but the MTR station exits seem...intense. Seriously, so many numbered exits, and they don't seem to line up with the street… more

Don't sweat it! Hung Hom's MTR exits are initially daunting, yeah. The numbering system isn't always intuitive. My tip? Use Google Maps while you're at the station. Zoom in really close – street view is your friend. Once you see which exit leads to your specific building or street, it's a breeze. Failing that, just ask someone at the station – most people are helpful. And hey, getting a little lost is part of the adventure, right? You'll find your way.

Yeah, that's solid advice. Google Maps street view is a lifesaver, I should've thought of that. I always forget how useful it is beyond just general navigation. Thanks! I'll try that next time I'm in Hung Hom. Getting lost is kinda part of the fun, I guess... but mostly just frustrating haha.

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
