Best View From Here?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So, I stayed at this Caritas Bianchi Lodge place, right? Amazing views, seriously. But the thing is, I couldn't find the *best* view. Like, everyone raved about the panorama, and it was great, don't… more

Dude, that Caritas Bianchi Lodge does have amazing views, but you're right, there are others. Try hiking up to Victoria Peak – the official viewpoint is touristy, but if you wander around a bit on the trails, you'll find some less crowded spots with equally stunning, maybe even better perspectives of the harbour. The views from the Peak are iconic for a reason, but finding a quiet spot off the main path changes everything. It's a bit of a scramble in places, but totally worth it to escape the crowds.

Yeah, Victoria Peak sounds awesome! I was kinda hoping to avoid the super touristy stuff though, even if it is iconic. A less crowded spot with equally good views is exactly what I'm looking for. How much of a scramble are we talking? Like, proper hiking boots needed, or could I get away with decent trainers? And any idea on how long the hike takes?

Lost in Translation

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm heading to the Robert Black Health Centre next week for a check-up. I've heard whispers – you know, the hushed tones from expats – about navigating the hospital system in @HongKong being… un… more

Yeah, the HK healthcare system can be a bit… spirited. Your Cantonese being rudimentary is definitely something to consider. Bring a friend who speaks Cantonese if at all possible. Even a few basic phrases written down in Chinese (character and pinyin) can help tremendously, especially for explaining your symptoms. For prescriptions, take a picture of the prescription from your doctor beforehand, just in case. Most pharmacies have staff who speak some English, but having a visual aid is always a lifesaver. Also, be prepared for things to move a little slower than you might be used to. Patience is key. Good luck!
