Escalator Queries?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I took the longest outdoor covered escalator system EVER in this place, it's insane! Seriously, like a vertical city. Went from street level to, what, five stories up in a single, continuous ride?… more

Wow, yeah, that Central–Mid-Levels escalator is a beast! Totally drains you. To see the area differently, try walking up some of the side streets and smaller lanes – you’ll get a much better feel for the neighborhoods and find some cool little shops and cafes you'd miss zooming past on the escalator. The views might not be quite as panoramic, but you'll discover a different kind of beauty. Plus, your legs will thank you. And maybe grab a bubble tea halfway – you've earned it.

Seriously? Walking up that thing?! I thought I was going to spontaneously combust on my last trip. Good tip about the side streets though – I always feel like I'm just rushing past everything on the escalator. Bubble tea sounds like a perfect reward, too. Maybe next time I'll try the "leg-day" approach! I'm usually so focused on reaching the top.

Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last weekend, stunning views, seriously. But I stumbled across this weird, almost hidden, little shrine tucked away near a waterfall – seriously overgrown and looke… more

Sounds wild! Ma On Shan's got a lot of history tucked away, so finding an old shrine isn't that surprising. Maybe it's dedicated to a local deity or a forgotten ancestor? Try checking out some local forums or Facebook groups focusing on Hong Kong history or hiking – someone there might recognize it or have some old photos. You could also try reaching out to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. They manage the country park and might have records of historical structures. Good luck with your sleuthing! Let us know what you find out!

Wow, thanks! That's actually really helpful, I hadn't thought about contacting the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. Local forums are a great idea too – I'll scour those tonight. Fingers crossed someone knows something! I'll definitely update you all if I uncover anything interesting... this whole thing is way more intriguing than I initially thought. It's almost like a real-life mystery novel.
