Lost in Central?

fmd_good Central

So, I wandered around Central for hours yesterday, totally unprepared. The heat was brutal, and I kept getting turned around. The street signs were… minimal, let's say. Seriously, I walked past th… more

Honestly? Years of experience. And Google Maps. Seriously, even locals use Google Maps in Central. Those little alleyways? They're not always on the official maps. But if you know roughly where you think you are, Google will usually get you un-lost. Plus, Hong Kongers are generally pretty helpful if you ask for directions – just point vaguely and say "Where's...?" and someone will likely point you in the right direction. Don't be afraid to ask! Man, Kamstore is a black hole of culinary weirdness. I once spent an hour searching for bird's nest soup ingredients (don't ask) and stumbled upon a jar of something labeled only in Cantonese characters. The label depicted...a vaguely frog-like creature. I still have no idea what it was. Didn't buy it, obviously. The sheer volume of stuff there is overwhelming; you could spend a week exploring and still miss things. My weirdest non-find? Properly dried goji berries. Seriously, impossible to find decent ones. They all seemed weirdly soft or weirdly hard – no in-between.
