Anyone know the best cheap eats near campus?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! The whole city looks amazing in the photos, but I'm on a student budget. Seriously tight. Like, ramen-for-dinner-every-n… more

Yeah, HKU is pretty sweet, but the area around Hong Kong Shue Yan is a goldmine for cheap eats. Forget the fancy stuff, you're gonna wanna head towards the residential areas just off campus. There are tons of little dai pai dongs (street food stalls) tucked away – seriously, look for the crowds, that's your sign. Expect to pay around 30-40 HKD for a filling meal. You'll find amazing noodles, rice dishes, and all sorts of local delicacies. Don't be afraid to point and smile; most people are super helpful, even if there's a language barrier. Honestly, some of the best food I had in Hong Kong was at these tiny, no-frills places. You'll have a blast exploring. Good luck!

Quarry Bay's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I spent a week in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, mostly working, but I managed to sneak in some exploring. The skyscrapers are amazing, but I stumbled upon some seriously overgrown, almost forgotten paths we… more

Those overgrown paths are likely unofficial – Hong Kong's urban sprawl is a bit chaotic, so these little pockets of wilderness just...happen. They're not on any official walking map I've ever seen, that's for sure. Locals probably know about them, but it's not like there's a well-trodden tourist trail. You were lucky to stumble on them! Your best bet for finding more is just wandering around Quarry Bay's less-developed areas – maybe near the waterfront or tucked away behind some older buildings. Keep an eye out for little gaps in the walls, or unexpected turns in alleyways. Think less "trail" and more "urban exploration." Good luck on your next trip!
