Cheap & Quick Glasses in Hong Kong

Looking for a place to get my eyes checked and glasses made quickly in Hong Kong. I'll only be there for 5 days and need the whole process to be fast because I usually wait 3 weeks in Europe.

Check out some of the smaller optical shops in Mong Kok or Causeway Bay. They often have faster turnaround times than the larger chains, and you can usually get glasses made within a day or two if you're lucky. Don't be afraid to haggle a bit on price, too.

That's great advice! Mong Kok's a bit of a maze though, isn't it? I'd probably start with Causeway Bay first – feels a bit more organised for browsing. Good point about haggling – always worth a try in those areas.

Lui Seng Chun Mystery

So I'm finally visiting Lui Seng Chun this week, it's been on my list forever! I've read about the history, seen the pictures...but I'm curious about the vibe. Is it actually as quiet and peaceful… more

It depends on the time of day, honestly. I went on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty peaceful – a few people wandering around, taking photos, but nothing overwhelming. Definitely felt that old Hong Kong vibe you're hoping for. Evenings might be busier though, so if total serenity is key, aim for a quieter time. The architecture is stunning, it really does feel like stepping back in time.

Yeah, that makes sense. Weekday afternoons sound perfect – avoiding the crowds is a big plus. I'm imagining it now, that old Hong Kong feel... amazing. Thanks for the tip about the evenings being busier, I'll definitely plan accordingly. Sounds like it's worth a visit no matter what, though!
