Hi,

i will have a date with a girl in a bar tomorrow. I am planning to go somewhere around Warschauer Straße/Boxi.

Since there are so many bars, can you suggest one you liked ? Would be cool, if we can talk calm without too loud music interupting the whole time.

Thanks

I would go to Bar Neiro on Libauer Straße. It's a cocktail bar that actually lets you hear the person across the table, which is rare around Warschauer. The drinks are around 12 euros so not cheap, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Just get there before 9 if you want a table for two.

I'd suggest Cafe Luzia on Simplonstrasse, just off Warschauer. It's a bit of a Berlin classic with the mismatched furniture and old lamps, but they keep the volume at a level where you can actually hold a conversation. The crowd is usually a mix of locals and people who wandered over from Boxi, so it doesn't get that chaotic tourist vibe. Drinks are fair for the area, around 4-5 euros for a beer.

If you're near Warschauer, take a short walk to Simon-Dach-Straße and check out Vodkow. It's a tiny vodka bar that's easy to miss from the street, but it stays fairly quiet because they don't crank the music up. The owner is usually there and can make you something custom if you mention what you like, which is a nice icebreaker. Just avoid Friday and Saturday evenings when it gets packed, but a weeknight should be fine for a relaxed chat.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
