Any places in Berlin that can print US Letter size (8.5inches by 11inches) documents?

Hello r/berlin,

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find a post answering my question.

I am replacing my US passport, and I need photocopies of ID documents printed on US Letter size paper (8.5inches by 11inches). Are there any places in Berlin that can do this? Thank you in advance.

The US consulate on Clayallee actually has a self-service copier in the waiting area and it's loaded with Letter paper, so if your appointment is already booked you can just do the copies there before they call your number. Costs like 25 cents a page iirc. Saves you the whole scavenger hunt around Mitte. Only catch is you can't bring electronics past security so do the copying after you get through, not before.

honestly A4 vs US Letter for a passport copy is basically a non-issue at the consulate, they just want the photocopy legible not a specific paper size. that said if you really want Letter, most Copyshops use A4 by default so ask specifically. the Copyshop near Rosenthaler Platz or the one on Kantstrasse can order Letter if you give them a day. otherwise your US consulate appointment itself, they have Letter paper on site for exactly this.

tbh the print shops at the copy centers inside big office supply stores like McPaper usually only stock A4 too. what worked for me was going to a small print shop in Kreuzberg that does flyers and stuff, they cut Letter from a bigger sheet on request. just call ahead and ask for "US Letter" specifically, some of them know it as "American format"

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
