When walking to work this morning, I couldn't cross the bridge from Alexanderplatz to Museuminsel/Dom/Berliner Schloss as it was completely blocked off by police. Anyone has any idea what is happening? Google News isn't helping.

They have completely closed off road and foot traffic, and they are even setting up vehicle barriers around the Insel.

I hope it won't last too long as I walk past here everyday...

could be a film shoot actually, they block off the whole area around the lustgarten pretty often for that. the berlin police twitter is usually faster than google news, just search "polizei berlin einsatz" and you'll see it. if it's a movie set you might even catch a glimpse of something cool, they did a big action scene on the schlossbrücke last year

yeah the police twitter is ur best bet for real-time closures, they update constantly during big events. could be a film shoot too, they do that on the insel sometimes with fake barriers

Probably a protest or a demo. They close off Museuminsel pretty often for that, especially on Fridays. You can check the police Twitter feed, they usually post street closures there.
