ngl the whole "no middleman" thing is tough in berlin but for czone you might have better luck with the actual hausverwaltung companies that manage whole blocks. walk around friedrichshain or kreuzberg and look for the little brass plaques next to building entrances, they usually have a phone number and company name. call them directly and ask about their czone inventory, a lot of them own buildings in marzahn or hohenschonhausen that they rent out directly without agents
also check the weekly bezirksamt newsletters for your district, they sometimes list vacant genossenschaft apartments before they hit the open market. the one for lichtenberg is called "lichtenberg aktuell" and it's free at the bürgeramt
honestly the best luck i've had in the c-zone is just talking to people at the local spätkauf or bakery. the older folks there usually know who's moving out or who owns a building nearby. also check the schwarzes brett at the edeka or netto in pankow or weissensee, sometimes landlords still pin up paper flyers there
Try the "Kleinanzeigen" app but filter for "Privat" instead of "Gewerblich" - that cuts out most of the middlemen. For the C-zone, set your search radius small, like 2-3 km around a specific S-Bahn stop in Lichtenberg or Hohenschonhausen, and check the listing's map pin before you even read the text. I've had better luck messaging landlords directly through that app than on Immowelt or Immoscout, where agents dominate. Also, some Hausverwaltungen in the C-zone manage whole blocks of Altbau apartments and rent directly - walk past a building you like and look for a small plaque with their name and phone number near the entrance.
i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.
The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.
One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
