Hello!

I came across this website while looking for an apartment. To contact the landlords you have to pay a subscription of €45 minimum! Some of the ads (while very affordable and enticing) don't look entirely legit.

I'm good at spotting scams and know how to handle myself within this market, would just like to know if anyone can anyone vouch for Flatbee?

Danke! :)

honestly flatbee is one of those sites where the listings are mostly scraped from other portals and re-posted. the "landlord" contact is often just a broker who wants you to sign up before they reveal anything. i'd put that 45 euros toward a WG-Gesucht premium month instead, or just refresh immoscout at weird hours like 7am, thats when the good stuff drops. if an ad looks too cheap for the Kiez its in, it almost always is

flatbee's whole model is selling your contact data on top of the subscription, thats the part people miss. you pay 45 and suddenly you're getting calls from random Makler for months. tbh the Berlin rental market runs on Genossenschaften if you can wait, places like WBM or Deutsche Wohnen have their own portals and waitlists and they don't charge you a cent to apply. downside is the wait, sometimes 6 to 18 months, but the rents are locked way below market. worth throwing your name in while you keep hunting the normal way.

I got burned by a similar paywall portal a couple years back, the trick is that €45 only unlocks "contact requests" and half the listings are already cold by the time you pay. What actually worked for me was setting up saved searches on Immobilienscout24 and Kleinanzeigen with instant email alerts, then calling the number in the ad directly within the first ten minutes. Landlords in places like Prenzlauer Berg or Kreuzberg usually pick from the first five serious callers, so speed beats any subscription. If you do want a paid option, the ImmoScout Plus membership at around €30 gets you earlier access to new listings, which is a real edge over Flatbee's scraped stuff.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
